Hi everyone- What started as a benign fibrocystic lump in my breast that brought me in for my first mammogram just after turning 36, evolved what I would imagine as my worst nightmare.

Evan and I were newly engaged, planning a wedding!, and talking about trying to get pregnant as soon as possible since we are getting older.

God obviously had different plans for us.

Doctors found micro calcifications on my mammogram that looked suspicious. My lump was, in fact, benign. After a series of tests and switching hospitals, I was found to have a cancerous lump hiding out that had already spread to my lymph nodes.

I have had a lumpectomy and several lymph nodes taken out now, but I will need chemo, radiation, hormone blockers, and possibly other medications if I am HER2+.

We are now getting an egg retrieval beforehand since chemo will destroy the eggs in the ovaries. This has been a huge financial expense on top of the other medical bills. We are crossing our fingers for financial assistance but so far we have been denied. The next big expenses will be wigs and cold capping to help me keep some semblance of hair.

We will be ok. I will get through this.

So many people have asked how they can help. If you feel moved to, it would mean so much to help us cover these additional expenses of the wig and cold capping which insurance will not cover.

And others have asked if they can buy us a wedding gift, since we decided to get married quickly, legally, since we will be going through this and making embryos soon!

We hope to have a big reception at the completion of my cancer journey. We do not have an actual date set for that, so don’t be fooled by the registry!
