Our dear Nathan was in a serious car accident on Sunday morning while driving alone to ski at Winter Park. An oncoming vehicle lost control, colliding with the car in front of him before hitting his car. Thankfully, his friend in the other car was uninjured and was able to reach Nathan quickly until emergency responders arrived.
Nathan was airlifted to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver, where he is in the ICU in stable condition. He underwent surgery on both femurs and his left arm, and he also has fractures in his clavicle and jaw. His medical team is closely monitoring brain bleeds and assessing the extent of his traumatic brain injury. Encouragingly, as the anesthesia has worn off, he has shown positive responses, including making eye contact with Rachel. Everyone is hopeful for more signs of recognition and communication, like a thumbs-up.
Nathan is one of the strongest people we know, and his determination will carry him forward.
