Marquis Players Easton Hunger Coalition Fundraiser
Donation protected
Lafayette College’s Marquis Players is an entirely student-run nonprofit theater group. Every year, we raise money to donate to local Easton charities. Our main source of money typically comes from our Spring Musical. Nearly 100 students come together every Spring to put on a full-fledged musical production. This year, we were in the middle of rehearsals for our production of Footloose before online learning began, and our musical was canceled. As a club, we were heartbroken. We had put in hundreds of hours singing, dancing, designing, and planning for what was meant to be a fantastic show.
But we are not only heartbroken for losing our show. We are mostly heartbroken that we were not able to raise money for the charity organizations that need it now more than ever. Last year, we raised a record-breaking $6,636 for charity. We were hoping to beat that this year through our various efforts. We think we still can. COVID-19 may have put a great amount of physical distance between our club members, but all of our hearts are still in Easton. All of our hearts are with the people of Easton that need our help. Because of this pandemic, there are families in Easton that are going hungry. More households than ever before are in need of assistance in obtaining food and necessary supplies. That’s why we have decided to create this fundraiser to support the Easton Hunger Coalition. The Easton Hunger Coalition works to eliminate hunger in the Easton area.
We have put together this montage of rehearsal videos to give a small glimpse of what our show could have been. In exchange, in lieu of purchasing tickets to see the show, we are hoping that you will consider donating to support the families that are struggling. Thank you and stay safe.
