Hi, my name is Allison, and I am starting a nonprofit called EquiTutors. Our mission is to provide under-resourced teenagers with the same test prep, at no cost, that their well-funded peers receive to help level the playing field in the college application process. We plan to provide students from low-income neighborhoods with an online test prep course by partnering with an already-established test prep organization and paying for their services at a discounted rate. We will schedule and fund these virtual courses by partnering with local schools. Students will have the opportunity to sign up for these courses in their junior year. $4,000 of the money raised will pay for 20 students to attend a test prep course. $2,100 of the money raised will go towards the legal fees to register EquiTutors as a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit in order to ensure the sustainability of the project.
