The RARA Education Project CIC is a Black-led organisation that is committed to facilitating safe learning and working environments where Black people can advance, connect, and thrive in UK society.
Acknowledging the compounding barriers facing Black students from disadvantaged backgrounds, RARA aims to take one small step towards increasing access and minimising the physical barriers to learning, as Black families are faced with increased socio-economic pressures. While our GCSE and A-Level students eagerly anticipate their summer exams, RARA aims to empower and equip Black students, across Leeds, with technical equipment and development opportunity, that would enable them to effectively participate in their learning as they near exam season.
Criteria for students eligible to receive support:
- Students must identify as Black African, Black Caribbean or Black Mixed.
- Students must attend an inner-city, state-funded school in Leeds.
- Students must have a record of 95% attendance or more.
- Students must evidence extra-curricular participation beyond the classroom.
- Students must demonstrate and articulate academic and career ambition.
NB: We will be directly contacting schools across Leeds as we consider the eligibility of a wide pool of students that may receive brand-new technical equipment from the funds raised by the community.
We are calling on the community to support our Black children in order that they may have sufficient access, and inevitably progress towards participating in the labour market. Help us to equip our children with the resources needed to encourage and ensure their academic success.
