Equip South Career Academy's Future Engineers

Hi, my name is Christine Corbin , and I'm an Engineering teacher at the brand-new South Career and Technical Academy in Clark County School District, Las Vegas, Nevada. Our school was founded with the mission to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s world — and one of the ways we’re doing that is through the nationally recognized Project Lead the Way (PLTW) curriculum.

I’m excited to teach Introduction to Engineering Design (IED), but there’s one big challenge: our supply budget is extremely limited, and we’re starting from scratch.

Why I Need Your Help:

Hands-on learning is at the heart of engineering education. Students learn best by doing — sketching, building, testing, and solving real-world problems. Unfortunately, our classroom is currently missing many of the essential tools and materials that make that possible.

Your support will go directly toward purchasing critical supplies for our students, such as:

Engineering notebooks & sketch tools

3D modeling materials

Drafting equipment and calipers

Classroom sets of rulers, compasses, and protractors

Safety equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.)

Materials for design challenges and prototypes, PLTW specific

Organizational and storage solutions

About the Program:

The Introduction to Engineering Design course introduces high school students to the engineering design process using the same industry-leading tools and techniques that real engineers use. Students will learn CAD (Computer-Aided Design), collaborate on team-based projects, and develop the problem-solving skills that will prepare them for college and careers in STEM fields.

The Impact:
