The Women’s peloton has ridden more than enough kilometers without a fair prize money compensation.
Where it seems that the UCI and race organizers are too busy with banning the super tuck or aero position, real issues in the sport such as a fair compensation of the female peloton are not being addressed.
Please help us in recognizing the outstanding athletic performance these athletes are displaying by donating an amount which will be awarded as prize money to the top 5 of the upcoming 2021 Strade Bianche.
By raising a large amount we would like to show that there is great recognition and appreciation of the female pro field and as such they should be awarded equally to the Men’s field.
This campaign wil run until Saturday 6 March 16:00. After this time it will no longer be possible to donate. All the proceeds will go to the riders, minus any administration fees which we have to pay gofundme. Following the week of the race we will come back to you with a transparent overview on how we have split your donations.
The prize money will go to the top 5 female riders and their corresponding teams. As tradition dictates, the prize money is usually shared among the team and support staff.
I am Cem Tanyeri 41 years old, a cycling fan from The Netherlands. You might have read the story behind why I started this crowdfunding or listened to a cycling related podcast where it was discussed. You can always reread my story on the Velonews site: https://www.velonews.com/news/womens-strade-bianche-crowdfunding-campaign-raises-e25578-for-womens-winners/
As many of you I was upset by the unfair split in Prize money following the Omloop het Nieuwsblad and decided to do something about it. With all of your amazing support we were able to raise: 25.918,70 EUROS after paying the Gofundme fees of 1.054,30 EUROS.
THE FINAL SPLIT AMONG THE RIDERS WILL BE:
1. CHANTAL VD BLAAK - 32% = 8293
2. ELISA LONGO BORGHINI - 25% = 6479
3. ANNA VAN DER BREGGEN - 19% = 4.924
4. ANNEMIEK VAN VLEUTEN - 14% = 3.628
5. CECILIE UTTRUP LUDWIG - 10% = 2591
All the riders have been contacted and you might have seen their responses if you followed the campaign on our Instagram page. Once we receive the funds from Gofundme, expected around 19 March, we can finalize the payments. Riders can decide for themselves how they use the funds and how they split it.
