Equal Access to Education for Indigenous Youth

Imagine wanting to connect with the world, but not having the tools to reach it. Technology is no longer a luxury in education; it is the bridge to communication, research, global learning, and self-expression.
For the students of Liceo Rual Kabebata, a small Indigenous high school in the Cabécar Territory of Costa Rica, this is their everyday reality. This Giving Tuesday, we are raising funds to change that by providing five laptop computers and one tablet, simple tools that can open extraordinary opportunities for students who are passionate about studying in local universities and strengthening their communities.

Liceo Kabebata is a place full of motivated, curious, and hard-working students who deserve the same opportunities as any young person, regardless of geography. For Indigenous students living in a remote area, access to these tools means a chance to participate fully in programs like Cross Cultural Connect and to share their stories with students around the world.

This campaign is strengthened by an inspiring group of high school students in Portland, Oregon. After visiting Costa Rica through our Amigio Link program, they returned home changed by the relationships they built. Instead of letting that experience pass, they formed the Common Grounds Culture Club, a student-led effort dedicated to global citizenship, cultural connection, and supporting Kabebata. They’ve been selling bracelets, educating their community, and helping raise awareness for this campaign. Their leadership is a reminder of what young people can achieve when they feel connected to a cause.

Your support helps continue this bridge between students in both countries. Donations go directly toward the laptops and tablet for Kabebata and help expand the Global Citizen Bracelet Initiative, a program that encourages cultural pride, creativity, and global understanding.

Thank you for being part of this effort. Your generosity helps transform distance into connection, challenges into opportunities, and students—both in Costa Rica and the United States—into active, compassionate global citizens.

No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to this GoFundMe.
