It breaks my heart to see the daily increase in medical problems. Of course, everyone has stories, but trust me, no one going through the difficult situation(s) wishes to encounter or dream of experiencing such.

Together, we can make a difference. Therefore, after much deliberation, I am proposing to start fundraising dedicated to financially assisting patients in need of Pacemakers.

WHAT IS A PACEMAKER?

A pacemaker, also known as a Cardiac pacing device, is a small device implanted in the chest to help control the heartbeat, i.e, prevent the heart from beating too slowly (sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, or heart block), through a surgical procedure by an electrophysiologist.

Following my research, pacemakers generally cost from $5,000 to $10,800, with an average price of about $6,700. The total costs for pacemaker implantation range from about $9,600 to $20,000, with an average cost of about $14,300. Although, the procedure is often covered by insurance, leaving the patient to pay 20 percent of the medical bills.

WHY PACEMAKER?

Further research shows that about 3 million people worldwide have pacemakers, and each year, 600,000 pacemakers are implanted.

For patients not covered by insurance, a pacemaker and heart-assist implant can cost $19,000-$96,000 or more, depending on the type of pacemaker, the location, and length of the hospital stay.
