Healing for Heather

Heather Young is your friend and mine, whether you have known her your whole life, or haven’t met her yet. She is kind and truly cares for everyone she meets.  When you think of Heather, there are immediate thoughts of joy, strength, love, and faith. Heather is all these things and so much more, including being a wonderful single mom, to her 15 year old son, Stone. Stone is her everything, her ROCK!
 
For as wonderful a friend Heather is, last year was not a kind year. To say it has been a rollercoaster for her, doesn’t come close to explaining it.
 
After searching for many years, Heather found the job that was meant for her. Working at the Chamber of Commerce and helping local businesses was something she truly loved and in which she took immense pride.
 
On April 22nd 2020, due to Covid 19 she was let go from that job. This loss was heartbreaking because the opportunity meant so much to her.  As her insurance coverage from her job would be discontinued at the end of June, she began scheduling her routine exams. 
 
On June 29th during her routine doctor’s appointment, an area was found in her right breast. This discovery made her doctor uncomfortable. Heather was sent for a mammogram and breast ultrasound.  She was scheduled for a breast biopsy the next day. 
 
On July 2nd she received news the pathology came back as breast cancer. 
 
Heather has been very focused on living a healthy lifestyle prior to being diagnosed with breast cancer, and her diagnosis led her on a journey to dig deeper into feeding her body, mind, and soul with only the best.  Healthy foods and a whole lot of Jesus! During this journey, the breast cancer remained stage 1A as originally diagnosed, which was amazing news!

The journey is not over, on May 19th Heather will be undergoing surgery to have the cancer removed. Thankfully, Heather is surrounded by many wonderful prayer warriors. We know she will get through this! 
 
As a close friend to Heather, you know how inspiring it is to watch how she pours into others, with constant support & encouragement. The joy she spreads to anyone she is around is infectious.
 
Now is the time to see this joy and support returned to our beloved friend. This is something she would never ask us for, but this is our way of showing our love for our beautiful friend.
