Update 12/14/25
Milo is back in the ER and we are devastated. His respiratory rate was much higher than normal this morning (60 vs 35) which is a sign of worsening congestive heart failure.
The cardiologist in November had said
Milo would likely need increased medications in 3-6 mos when symptoms gradually worsen. Well it’s only been one month and they got suddenly worse over night. Milo had been doing very well on his medicines so we were shocked this morning.
The ER vet said he hasn’t improved and it’s been about 10 hours on oxygen and shot of medicine. Milo is seeing the cardiologist tomorrow morning and getting his kidneys re-evaluated (the crucial med has side effects there and we need it to be normal to continue the med at higher doses) we will make more decisions from there. The hope is that we can get him out tomorrow and do higher doses of medicines from home.
Please pray for us. We want him home and well for the Holidays. ♥️

Update as of 11/4/2025:
Thank you so much for all who helped Milo walk again! Sadly we have some heartbreaking news. Milo was diagnosed today with Congestive heart failure. He has been given 6-14 months to live As you can imagine Arianna is devastated and trying to process all the news. Milo's condition is not covered by insurance and he is currently in the ER in an oxygen chamber. Currently his treatment for the next two days is over $7,000. We are looking to help our friends in anyway we can at this time.

Our furry friend Milo was diagnosed with IVDD after jumping off a bed at the Airbnb his parents were staying at for Thanksgiving visiting family. He was rushed to an ER in Wilmington, NC, where they did initial testing suggesting he needed an emergency spinal surgery. The vet said without the surgery he would be paralyzed in his two back legs. No local hospital was available to do the surgery given it was a holiday weekend and a specialty surgery, so his parents had to drive over 6 hours to Annapolis, MD, for him to have the surgery. Milo was evaluated by the neurosurgeon at Compass Veterinary Neurology when an MRI was done, and it was confirmed he had IVDD. He was rushed into surgery by Dr. Archambault on Sunday morning. His surgery went well, and he now has a 90-95% chance of being able to walk normally again. On Monday morning, Milo was too sedated for neuro to evaluate movement in the back legs. He will stay at the hospital another night with hopes of being discharged Tuesday. He has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him to get his ability to walk back. We know this sweet boy is strong, and his parents will do anything they can to get him walking again. Please pray he recovers his ability to walk.
His surgery cost alone was around $11k. His initial ER exam was over $700, and there will be lots of rehab expenses ahead of him. His parents, especially his mom Arianna, have dedicated so much of their life to save and rehabilitate rescued as well as disabled animals. We hope to help relieve some of the financial stress so his mom can focus on continuing to save the dog that saved her life. Thank you in advance for any help you can give!
