Sweet Louie is now one of our Rescue dogs, who had been turned into a local shelter at 5 months old with two broken legs. The broken legs were determined to be over a month old. He then contracted kennel cough at the shelter, comlicated by a reaction to pain medication, which landed him there for almost another month trying to fight for his life. Even through all of the pain he has endured, he is all puppy and showed so much resilience!
We had him in a foster home for about two weeks, during that time we have been consulting with multiple surgeons as to the best solution for fixing his broken legs. We have decided to work with a veterinary surgeon in Canada who has been caring for him over the course of the least two weeks as both surgeries cannot be conducted at the same time. This surgeon comes highly recommended by a Canadian rescue friend and cost roughly $3100. He was able to save both of his legs. Our local options were closer to $5,000 and the possiblity of loosing his front leg as well.
Louie is ready to come back to the USA and go home to his foster home this week for his recovery while we look for his forever home.
We at Lucky Paws Rescue have had many medical needs dogs this year and we are down to our last pennies, so we are reaching out for help with this pup that we have agreed to take on. Every dollar counts and we will not fail this boy.
We can not thank you enough for your help with Sweet Louie.
