UPDATE: Because of the efforts of those who have donated, we have raised some money to help but not enough to put this family in a new rental. BUT it is not too late! The family has been evicted and the government has put them in a hotel for a week. We need to raise another $1,450 by December 15 to get them into a small cottage that the landlord is holding for them until December 15 giving them time to pay the deposit and first month’s rent. Please don’t let this family be on the street at Christmas. Give generously as you are able!
On May 6, 2014 Trent and Aimee’s twins were born two-and-a-half months early…their baby girl Autumn was born with cerebral palsy and their son Trent Jr. has medical and developmental issues that began surfacing months after his birth. Instead of the very normal but hectic sleep schedules of twins, Aimee found herself dealing with medical and life issues of enormous proportions. She was required to drive from Los Angeles to San Diego three times a week; two days for Autumn’s occupational therapy to improve motor, cognitive, social and adaptive skills, one day to Rady’s Children’s Hospital in Oceanside for physical therapy and neurodevelopmental treatment all while trying to hold down a job.
As you might imagine the strain on daily life was tremendous. Both Trent and Aimee ended up losing their jobs. Trent unemployment has since run out and he continues to look for work every day. Aimee lost her job due to the strain on their vehicles from the long-distance driving causing both vehicles to break down so often that Aimee’s employer let her go. They both keep applying for jobs and have had two interviews this past month but no offers. With the holidays, there is no rush to hire and not many opportunities to apply for. The loss of jobs stopped them from paying rent and they are behind $2,000 and are being evicted on December 5th from their rental house. They no longer can afford gas for the truck, and their car blew a head gasket so Autumn is no longer getting to her therapy appointments in San Diego. They are attempting to get home services for Autumn but cannot because they are about to be evicted and without a permanent address the government will not provide home services. They likely will not qualify for another rental having been evicted, not to mention they owe over $1,000 in utility and other bills that have gone unpaid in order to put food on the table.
Doctors think Autumn and Trent Jr. may have other medical issues related to mental capacity; neither twin speaks (Trent Jr can say about 2 words now) and Autumn does not walk. Without the therapy Autumn needs, walking in the future may be compromised. On November 6, 2015 Trent Sr was diagnosed with diabetes and anemia. More tests are being run on Trent Sr. as they feel he is likely dealing with other medical issues. Aimee has cysts on her ovaries and is in extreme pain all the time and needs a hysterectomy. She can’t consider her own health let alone deal with it with all that is on her plate. The oldest child Logun is going through emotional problems of his own because of the loss of his father who died in front of him gasping for breath. He also endures bullying at school. They don’t have the money to pay a new rent, qualify to be a renter, or even fund a move let alone find a 3 bedroom rental. They are only days from eviction.
They can come out of this with your help. They need approximately $3000 to move, this would be the deposit and first month’s rent. They owe $2000 in back rent and $1000 in utilities. $1000 would fix their car and $3000 would keep them solvent until they can land a job. So we are trying to raise $10,000 to help this family. This is not an unachievable goal with the help of you and others. Please give the gift of hope and healing to this family with a generous donation and share this with Go Fund Me page others on social media or email. Thank you for sharing the joy of giving this holiday season so this family can survive beyond the challenges that would break the heart and spirit of most of us!
