Robert Burrell - Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
It is with deep sadness that I share with you that my younger brother, Robert "Butch" Burrell lost his battle with cancer in the early hours of November 20th. For more than a year he battled cancer. Never giving up he fought hard and to the very end.
My brother was and is what good men aspire to be, kind and generous, a Master Mason and DWA, active with the Rainbow Girls and his community. Robert was a living historian for most of his adult life. Performing Civil War re-enactments across the country and visiting schools to bring history alive. Rob was the kind of friend you wish you had and want to be. His courage and commitment inspired me. In solidarity I got a tattoo of an infinity feather and the words "Defeat Cancer" to show him I loved him and had his back through this. A job I failed at.
Rob worked right up to the end, through all the radiation and chemo treatment. He didn't care. He would tell me, "It's what good men are supposed to do. Provide for their family." A simple county park employee of 20 years you wouldn't know when looking at him the depth of who is was, the battle he fought or the quite courage he possessed.
Rob leaves behind a loving wife Lynn, his daughter Katy, his mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
I'll miss you brother. I’ve always known you wanted to serve with me but we each protect and defend with the gifts God gave us. Go rest, brother for I know Valhalla shall welcome you home as the warrior you always were.
Due to the cancer treatments any savings are long gone so in lieu of flowers and cards the family requests donations to help with funeral costs. A ceremony is planned for December 6th in Toms River, NJ.
