(A month after my D-Day)

Sometimes life throws us a curveball.

You’re late for work, and the car won’t start.

You need to do a presentation and your computer battery dies.

Some of these curveballs are temporary challenges.

Some of them are permanent, life-changing challenges.

One of those happened to me on July 10th of this year.

More about this later…

We were all ready to go on a family vacation to Idaho.

On Thursday, July 9th, I went in to see my podiatrist.

You see, I had an undetected injury which had caused some infection, and the podiatrist and I had been working on this for weeks.

I’d seen him several times prior.

Well, we were planning to leave for our vacation the next day (Friday, July 10).

But when he saw my left foot, he had a very worried look on his face.

He called in another doctor. And together, they told me that the infection had gone into geometric replication, leading to sepsis.

They had to explain to me what that meant, but when they looked at me, with a sober look on his face, the other doctor said, “You could go on your trip, but you’d be dead by Sunday.”

Then they both looked at me and my podiatrist said, “You could either lose your leg, or you could lose your life. It’s up to you.”

Well, I've had some classes in Pre-Med, had really good scores, I could see my foot and could tell that they were not kidding in any way.

And so, I had to make an unpleasant but clear decision.

They admitted me to Evergreen Hospital next door.

The next day, July 10th at 1pm - the day we were supposed to go on a family vacation, the other doctor (Dr. Borjeson, who’s a surgeon) together with an orthopedic surgeon (Dr. Webber), performed a below-the-knee amputation on my left leg.

So, life threw me a curveball, a life-altering permanent challenge.

That said, my health is has improved 300% since surgery.

I’m diligent in doing my physical therapy every single day.

I’m increasing my mobility; I'm also setting and achieving new goals that I set for myself daily.

I’m also able to work from home every day now.

Still, part of the life-altering challenge is that my insurance doesn’t cover everything. We have hospital bills, surgery bills, and surgeons’ bills.

But also, I will need a prosthetic, which our insurance will only pay a small part of.

So, what I’m asking, dear Family and Friends, is – would you be open to helping us out?

Would you kindly donate any amount to sponsor me so that I can get a prosthetic left leg, please?

We would appreciate any amount you generously invest in me and my family during this challenging yet grace-filled time.

We are eternally grateful for your friendship and support.
