All,
The majority of us got to know each other in, at, or through one place. 1803 South Joplin, Pittsburg Kansas. Better known as the Sig Tau House at Pittsburg State. Several years ago, the house underwent a major renovation that brought us up to this century. Since then, we have at least to my knowledge not done a major fundraiser. The time is now. The house is in pretty decent shape, and if any of you made it to homecoming this past fall you know the guys in the house are committed to making it work. The current group of guys that are in there are good guys. From what I can tell, the bad apples have been weeded out. I think everyone in this group can remember a time in their involvement in the house where we needed to remove people to move forward and improve. That being said, these young men know they have to rush like mad men this coming fall. Even this spring they need to hit it hard. They are fortunate in the fact they have an active, motivated, and caring group of alumni. Within the next 60 days we need to raise a minimum of $11,450. That number catches us up on payments and provides a small margin of error for when something happens, such as the water heater that went out earlier this week. I know that seems like a lot of money. It is to me! But, earlier in the fall I sent out a message on facebook to 39 other guys that I would consider brothers/friends/ and I have a personal relationship with. Out of those 20 responded within 48 hours each pledging $200. That's not a lot of money for the memories and friendships we all share. To those 20 it is now time to donate. For others who see this, please contact your peer groups. I'd love to smash $11,450 and then go to some of the older big donors and say, hey you're not alone. Let's do this together. If $200 is too much for someone today I understand. If it is, please send $100 in by Februrary 14th (help the house and don't get me anything this year!) and the other $100 in by March 15th. If you can give more please do.
