Our Story

Hi, and thank you for taking a moment to read this. My name is Brittany, and I’m a full-time working mom, full-time college student, and wife trying to keep my young family afloat after a season of crisis.

In November 2024, we welcomed our first child into the world—our beautiful daughter Lily. Not long after, we discovered that our home had severe mold and possible asbestos, and we were forced to move out for her safety. I had to leave and move in with friends to protect Lily, and my husband Josh was left to pack and clear out our two-family home mostly by himself.

At the same time, Josh lost his job due to a shortage of hours. On top of that, he suffers from ongoing health issues that make physical exertion extremely difficult, but despite that, he has pushed himself beyond his limits to do whatever it takes to get us into a safer environment.

We’ve had some support from kind friends here and there, but most of the burden has fallen on our shoulders. I’ve been working full-time, trying to finish my degree, and caring for our 7-month-old daughter the best I can. Since I’m the only one earning income right now, and because our new rent went up by $450/month, we’ve fallen behind on our bills and are truly struggling to make ends meet.

Why We’re Asking for Help

We’re not asking for extras—just the basics. We’re trying to:

• Cover our increased rent

• Pay down urgent bills and utilities

• Afford baby essentials (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.)

• Give Josh a little breathing room to focus on moving, healing, and job hunting

• Create a small cushion to help us stay on our feet while I finish school

We’ve done all we can, and we’re still falling short. It’s terrifying. We are trying every day to be strong for our daughter, but we can’t do it alone anymore.
