El Pollo Local Grants

Donation protected
El Pollo Loco has donated $100,000 in grants to help Latina-owned small businesses in greater Los Angeles.

Help us distribute more grants to Latina-owned small businesses.

Every $10,000 more we raise through this campaign can help another Latina-owned business stay open.

Together we can keep our local flavor alive.

The Covid-19 pandemic has drastically affected all of our lives in every imaginable way-- from having to accept new societal norms, to living through the impact of the resulting economic downturn.

Our beloved small businesses are no different. Many local L.A. area restaurants and businesses in the food industry have been forced to drastically reduce their operations or close altogether while they wait for help that has yet to arrive. This is particularly true of Latina-owned small businesses. These restaurants, bakeries, local haunts, food joints and regional suppliers are the fabric of our neighborhoods and our culture. And they need to be saved.

That’s why, in recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month, we are partnering with #WeAllGrow Latina and dedicating ourselves to helping Latina-owned local businesses through El Pollo Local Grants. In the coming weeks, we will be giving out $100,000 to ten deserving Latina entrepreneurs in need of support.

But that is only the beginning. We’d like to invite you to help us make an even greater contribution to the greater good. With every additional $10,000 we raise, we can help save another Latina-owned small business. So join us by clicking the link below and making your contribution to the cause. The stakes have never been greater, and every dollar makes a difference.

We hope you join us.

#FundLatinaFoodJefas

When we found out that Latina-owned businesses are being disproportionately impacted by the current crisis, we got together with #WeAllGrow Latina and asked ourselves "what can we do to support and help #FundLatinaFoodJefas during Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond?" The answer we collectively came up with is a plan to provide opportunities and visibility to Latina-owned businesses in the food industry. And now we invite you to join us porque la comida nos une and unidos we can do great things.

El Pollo Loco: Born in Mexico, Raised in LA
Sinaloa, Mexico, 1975. An enterprising young man converts his shoe store to a chicken restaurant so that he may finally enjoy a fire-grilled chicken dinner at the end of a long day. He doesn’t have a name in mind, so the sign painter takes matters into his own hands. And El Pollo Loco is born.

Alvarado Street, Los Angeles, five years later. That same enterprising young man opens a small store on a long boulevard snaking through the not-so-famous parts of Los Angeles, and El Pollo Loco’s L.A. story begins. And like so many L.A. stories, it begins with immigrants, drawn to America and the great L.A. melting pot in hopes of a future that was bigger, more promising and full of those American dreams they had heard so much about.

Which is why we have launched El Pollo Local Grants. We do so with great pride, as we were once ourselves a small local business, started by immigrants with little more than a recipe and a dream of a better future. And we are committed to doing our part to help everyone experience the American Dream.

Thank you for reading, we look forward to having you on our team.
