Recording of new Canadian work for Orchestra

In May 2018 my quartet, with the Scarborough Philharmonic, premiered my most recent composition for solo sting quartet and orchestra, EPITAPH foratonality. The positive audience reception was humbling and the concert  was a huge success.



Now, we want to take it one step further and make a professional studio recording.

As a composer, it is difficult to earn the trust of orchestras to program your works. Having a strong, professionally produced recording to present to orchestras is a great tool for encouraging them to program this piece and my compositions in general.

Additionally, the string quartet world is a very competitive one with many groups (especially in Toronto) trying to gain attention by self presenting concerts of great works. This recording would help set the Odin Quartet apart by displaying both the fact that we have an in-group composer as well as featuring us as soloists with an orchestra.





Other than the great impact that this recording would have on my career as a performer and a composer, this project would help encourage orchestras to program Canadian works. It would grant me much greater reach, allowing me to pitch this composition and others to orchestras outside my professional geographic region. This would both extend my reach as a composer to a larger portion of the province/country/continent, as well as propagate the programming of Ontarian works in Canadian or international orchestral concerts.
