My name is Katie and I have played hockey and other sports my entire life. I have always been healthy, or so I thought. 6 months ago (just after we finally won nationals, Whoop!) I started experiencing excruciating lower back pain. I went to the ER and discovered I needed to go see a spinal specialist asap. Long story short after a lot of unsuccessful therapy sessions and injections I had no choice but to get surgery to prevent being paralyzed. 3 weeks ago I under went surgery on my lumbar spine. I had to have my disc removed and a cage and bone graph put in and my L5 fused to my S1. My nerve was stretched almost 2 inches to get it back into place which is causing me so much extra pain and complications. So much extra complications that I may have to under go another surgery to open that nerve canal even more. I am 25 and I support myself. I am out of work for months because of this and I am now stuck with thousands of dollars of medical bill debt. Any and every contribution and message of love and support is greatly appreciated.
