Jenni on her feet again!

My youngest sister, Jennifer, was in a horrific motorcycle accident almost 5 years ago.  I got a call that she was in the hospital and got there to find her unconscious.  When I met with the surgeon who had worked to save her life and her right leg he explained to me that while he had been able to get artery blood flow, her veins were so damaged that her leg would have to be amputated above the knee.  I can't begin to explain how difficult it was to be the one to sign the papers authorizing this.  Jennifer's recovery was slow and extremely painful.  But, she's Jennifer and she did.  She has adjusted to life in a wheelchair or crutches, returned to work, owns her own home, drives her car, and is raising her two high school aged sons alone....but she hasn't walked yet.   The first prosthesis that was tried wasn't a good match.  Now, she's being fitted for a new prosthesis but the 20% copay is out of her reach financially.   The money raised will be used to pay this copay and other incidental expenses for this prosthesis (which will give her a working knee).  We'd like to get this for her as soon as possible (before the cost increases) and get her back on her FEET!  My heart broke seeing my baby sister unconscious and knowing that when she woke up her leg would be gone above the knee.  I want to see her walking again.  I want to be able to go to the beach with her and have her walk out to the waves.  I want to see her go on rides at amusement parks without having to worry about the transfer from the chair.  I want to see her participate in a marathon with my older sister, Phyllis, in a couple of years.  I want my sister to walk again.  This is something I pray for every single day and would mean the world to me.
