Eowyn is currently at home resting. Were able to get enough to cover her vet bill today but that's just the start. She goes back on Monday and then again on Wednesday or Thursday depending on what the vet says on Monday. The infection is pretty bad though and the swelling is cutting off circulation to her foot. I just gave her another warm foot soak for 10 minutes and we're hoping that helps to reduce the swelling and clear up the infection along with the four new medications that she is starting today. We're keeping our fingers crossed. If the swelling doesn't go down and we can't restore circulation to her foot thwn, worst case scenarios, I have to make the decision to have her leg amputated. That's a very hard call, but I'd rather have a happy, healthy tripod than no dog at all.
How we got to this point:
Eowyn's foot was injured a couple weeks ago. It was healing really well and then she re-injured it again last Sunday. Once again, it was healing well until it started swelling. Yesterday despite our best efforts infection was now present. She has licked it raw in several places removing fur and causing mass irritation. We took her to Family Pet Medical and Surgery this morning and have already paid the $931 with help from a couple fronts from and one charity. Since it's the beginning of the month and we had just paid our mortgage, utilities, and both car payments last Friday and are now in a financial bind and could use all the help we can get.
