Wendy Neal Cancer Treatment

Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses for colon cancer surgery, treatment and medications (including Chemotherapy). To date there is over $35,000 in out of pocket expenses for the surgery and Chemo has not even started.

Wendy is 41 years old, a wife, mother of two and also a grandmother.

Wendy’s plight with cancer began in the spring of 2014 when she noticed blood in her stools. In June, her family doctor referred to a Gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy revealed several polyp(s) and a Polypoid Tumor which tested positive for cancer. Upon receiving this news, a surgeon was contacted and surgery was scheduled to remove the cancerous portion of Wendy’s colon. On July 21st surgery was performed and the affected area of the colon and 17 lymph nodes were removed. Test results revealed that the cancer had penetrated the wall and muscle of the colon and infected three lymph nodes (Stage 3-A Colon Cancer). Consultations with an Oncologist began and plans for Chemotherapy began. The Oncologist recommended bi-weekly Chemo treatments for 6 months. Chemo will begin as soon as she is healed from the surgery. With the Chemotherapy treatment, Wendy has an excellent chance of ridding the cancer from her body.

Less than 2 years ago, Wendy lost her only son:

Cole, Wendy’s 11 year old son, passed suddenly on November 26, 2012. Cole was a vibrant and loving boy with no signs of medical problems. Thanksgiving day of 2012, he was eating turkey dinner with his family and only 3 days later he was RUNNING WITH THE ANGELS. Cole died of Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an extremely fast acting form of Leukemia that, if not detected, can be fatal within weeks. Cole showed no signs of having a serious illness, only cold like symptoms which are common for an 11 year old in the fall. When Cole started running fever, he was taken to the hospital and passed within hours. Cole did not have chance and his passing devastated Wendy and all family members. Wendy is still trying to pay the extensive medical bills from Cole’s death.

We want to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support.
