Enyinna's Road to Recovery & Rehabilitation

"Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around" - Leo Buscaglia

On November 7th, 2019, our brother Enyinna Chimezie was admitted to the hospital after suffering a sudden and unexpected acute ischemic stroke, which left him with right-sided paralysis and unable to verbally communicate to us at the moment. The stroke while Enyinna was home alone for several hours, leaving out of the time window for standard emergency IV medication or While we still do not know the exact medical cause of the stroke, we remain steadfast in prayer and are believing for a miracle for his recovery. We are so grateful for the tremendous outpouring of love and support from our village of family and friends. If there's one thing we know for sure about our brother, he is a fighter, and that spirit of grit and determination will guide him on this journey, along with the love and support from his friends and family.

Enyinna has a smile that can light up a room and a laugh that is infectious. His heart is bigger than most, giving him the ability to connect with every person he meets on an extremely personal level, something that makes him extremely special to us and everyone he meets. Enyinna is an incredibly dedicated friend, brother, and worker, willing to help everyone that he meets however he can. His compassion for others is unequivocal, clear from just one conversation with him. He has such a big heart and his stroke has put a stress on it that was unexpected and unmatched.

Today, our family stands with a newly defined purpose to help raise awareness around stroke and heart health in black men. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, African American men are at greatest risk of having a stroke in the U.S. and are more likely to have a stroke at a younger age. At the young age of 34, we are sure that receiving specialized attention and physical therapy will help Enyinna lead a spectacular life after this stroke.

Enyinna was actively working two part-time jobs in sales and marketing, but unfortunately lapsed in his health care coverage, currently leaving him without health insurance and unable to adequately cover the costs of rehabilitation necessary. After the stroke he had, we know his rehab will be hard and extensive and with that comes costs that he will need help from friends, family and generous supporters to cover. We continue to pray for God's protection and favor, and believe that Enyinna will be a living testimony of God's goodness and love. We do know that he will require intensive rehabilitation for a prolonged period to regain his functionality and, ultimately, his independence. For those seeking to support our efforts to provide him the best rehabilitation care possible, your generous donations will help to cover the costly rehab and physical therapy expenses associated with his care.

We will also use this page to provide updates on Enyinna's progress. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any specific questions. As you lift our family in prayer, we also lift yours in our prayers.
