Help for the Riegel Family

On the evening of Tuesday, September 10th, Mike Riegel was in a serious motorcycle accident. He hit some sand on a curve in the road and was thrown off of his bike into nearby woods. He was found hours later, in significant pain, and brought to Hartford Hospital. We are so grateful that he was found alive.
The doctors have been assessing his injuries and have determined that he has a broken L3 vertebrae in his back that is compressing his spinal cord. Their plan is to remove L3, put in a spacer, and fuse L2 and L4. They will not know the full extent of his injury until they are in surgery, and the surgery itself poses risk of further damage as they will be working in such close proximity to his spinal cord. Thankfully, he currently has feeling in both legs. They plan to perform surgery on September 12.
Mike is the primary source of income for his sweet family of five. His wife Anna is currently pregnant with their daughter Lily and is due October 1st, less than three weeks away. They also have three other children, Mikey (5), Lucy (2), and Jaxxon (2). Mike's road to recovery will most certainly present financial obstacles as he focuses on his physical healing, and it is highly likely that Anna will need to focus on her healing and care after she delivers as well. Mike and Anna's family members have immediately stepped up to help with childcare, bringing children to school and supporting Anna and Mike in whatever way they are able. As you can imagine, this is exhausting. There are many logistics to take care of and this need for help will only increase when baby Lily arrives.
The purpose of this fundraiser is to help the Riegel family with any and all expenses they may incur as a result of this accident and time away from work. Hartford Hospital is an hour away from their home. They will have travel expenses, food expenses, medical bills, and very soon- bills associated with the care of an infant. It is our hope that any donations they receive will help relieve the family of these financial burdens so they can focus on healing from this trauma. All donations are being released to Mike's father, Tony, as Mike will not have access to his bank accounts while he is in the hospital or recovering, and neither will Anna once she is in recovery from delivery.
Any and all donations are greatly appreciated, and your prayers and encouragement are as well. We are specifically in prayer that Mike will avoid infection, for the doctors' wisdom in treatment as the threat of severe nerve damage is great, that the dynamics of caring for his family will be taken care of (care for the toddlers and getting Mikey to school), for Anna to stay healthy and safe in her late stage of pregnancy, and for those around Mike and his family to come together and be a support system for him and his family.
