"Envision"-ing Mariah's Future

Mariah LOVES receiving mail -- like most 9-year old children do! Recently, Mariah received an unexpected envelope with a fancy, gold seal in the mail. As Mariah, her father, and I opened the envelope and read through the several enclosed letters and brochures, we grew extremely excited and PROUD! The letters explained that Mariah's 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Era Benson of MacArthur K-8 University Academy, had nominated Mariah to participate in the "2018 National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Pathways to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM)" program, sponsored by Envision and held at Bowling Green State University.
Envision is a leading experiential education organization offering students the opportunity to explore their career and life interests while providing them with the leadership development skills and real-world experiences needed to succeed in today's competitive college and career landscape. The "2018 NYLF: Pathways to STEM" program is designed to give elementary students the opportunity to discover their personal strengths and to begin to acquire leadership and life skills necessary for academic and career success.
We have created this GoFundMe page for Mariah because this phenomenal opportunity does come with a hefty cost that we are unable to fully fund in time for the April 13, 2018 enrollment deadline. Fortunately, Mariah entered into an essay scholarship contest in which she was awarded $500 to apply toward the total cost of $2,284.00 for the 6-day/5-night residential program which covers the following: hands-on STEM Career Exploration Activities led by doctors, engineers, scientists, etc. to include a Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) simulation, a robotics design module, and a real-life heart dissection; leadership curriculum to include public speaking and team-building; breakfast, lunch, dinner; room and board, and a multitude of other social and extracurricular activities.
Mariah's teacher nominated her because she recognizes Mariah as a student who demonstrates exceptional maturity, scholastic merit, and leadership potential. We believe that with some additional financial and/or motivational support from you, Mariah's attendance at the "2018 NYLF: Pathways to STEM" program will be possible. This will only FURTHER solidify her bright future as Dr. Mariah Berry, dermatologist and make-up artist (Yes, she has BIG dreams)!!! :)
