On Friday, July 30th, my sister and her family experienced a traumatic and devastating event. As my sister, her husband and their four kids slept, they were woken up at 3am by flames against their home. This fire was intentionally set to cause them harm. A violent act against them by setting their family car on fire against their garage. The damage was not only physical but has taken a toll on my sister and her family’s emotional well-being. Evelin and Jose have lost the privilege of feeling safe in their own home. Their children have witnessed a hateful act towards themselves and their family, no one should ever experience.

My brother-in-law, Jose, is a hardworking man who does everything to provide for his family. His wife, Evelin, is a stay-at-home mother who dedicates every moment to teaching and caring for Velicia (13), Cruz (11), Joselin (3) and David (3). Jose and Evelin have the kindest souls which can be seen through their four beautiful kids.

Their lives have now been put in danger and they are unable to stay in their own home. They will need to move somewhere safe to begin their healing. During this time, as they try to process the event that has just shook up their world, my family asks for your help to support them.
