I am a music teacher at Volusia County's Sugar Mill Elementary located in Port Orange, FL. I was recently hired and this will be my first ever full-time music teaching position. With the help of my wonderful co-teacher, I have been preparing the music room for the upcoming 2020 - 2021 school year. We're doing our best to not only make our classroom a warm, inviting and vibrant room to step foot into but also a safe one. As of right now, a lot is still up in the air with how our school is going to reopen, though the plan is to open our doors on August 31st. We've been moving everything, cleaning everything, preparing ourselves for what's to come as best as we can but of course, there's always a thing or two more we could have to ensure a safe classroom for us, the students and the families of these students. Recently, we met with the principal and assistant principal of Sugar Mill and were told we were given the go on being allowed plexiglass and air purifiers for our classroom. That said, we of course we would need to raise the funds for said equipment as we don't have the funds to purchase it ourselves and with everything else going on in preparing for a potential in-classroom start to the school year, things are not looking in our favor when it comes to asking the school for the plexiglass/purifiers.
This is why I've come to GoFundMe, to ask for some assistance in funds to be able to hopefully purchase 2 air purifiers (of about or under $200, we were looking into this specific air purifier: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0859NZBC5/ref=s9_acsd_omwf_hd_bw_bI6d1H_c2_x_4_i?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_r=Z4A1777N4P90YRR3QZF6&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=42fa5a35-ef8f-5af0-b394-2dfa498ebfea&pf_rd_i=267554011), plexiglass for me and my co-teacher & supplies to ensure maximum safety for the students and us.
If you could donate anything, $1, $5, $10, I would be beyond grateful for your contribution. Considering the amount of students that will be entering and exiting our classroom (over 400, with some having us have 2 classes in our room at once), your contributions would not only go to ensuring a safer classroom for us and the students, but also one of more comfort be it they'll know we're doing everything in our power to ensure their and their families' safety. We want music to be a place of escape for them in a time that's truly terrifying. If you are unable to donate, I would appreciate if you could share this to someone who might be able to.
We feel that we can ensure a safe music classroom here at Sugar Mill Elementary. Our students, teachers, families, my co-op teacher and myself and we would be beyond grateful if you could donate, share or contribute in anyway to ensure this is the case.
