Ensure JohnMatthew's Nighttime Nursing Support
Donation protected
We are creating this fund on behalf of my best friend’s son, JohnMatthew Hawley. At the age of 2, he was diagnosed with autism, and at 6, his parents, Kyle and Kaitlynn, sent him for further DNA testing, which revealed that he has MECP2, a rare genetic disorder that has led to Rett Syndrome, frequent hospitalizations for pneumonia, seizures, cognitive impairments, feeding difficulties, and a decline in motor functions, as well as other impairments.
JM is currently 9 years old and the eldest of his two younger brothers, with a baby sister on the way. His parents work tirelessly to provide JM with the best healthcare he can receive, including nighttime nursing care, until a recent job transition by his mother led to a change in their coverage. This resulted in a $6/hour pay reduction for their two nurses, which led to the last-minute resignation of both. Kyle and Kaitlynn are now alternating nights sleeping on an air mattress next to JM’s bed to be able to provide care for him, while still trying to be the best parents they can be for their two younger children and continue working.
My goal is to help bridge the gap to help cover the cost of the nursing support JM needs for the next year. Your donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards ensuring that JM gets the care that he deserves and allowing his parents to focus on their families well-being without the added financial strain.
JM’s parents would never ask for help on their own, but they shouldn’t have to go through this alone. Any support is truly appreciated.
