Hello everyone! My name is Ben Hilt and I’m starting this GoFundMe for Jamie (my wife) and I as we’re expecting our second child. Jamie has a rare blood disorder that causes her to bleed more severely and quickly than others, and as a result, she is not able to make blood as quickly once the bleeding starts. (Doctors said it is similar to Von Willebrand's but for some reason seems to affect the female organs more.) During childbirth, this is a huge concern given it’s a pretty bloody process, and we want to make sure she makes it through if the worst were to happen. Given that this birth is a higher risk than the last, this has heightened our concern.

We found out today she has a condition called subchorionic hematoma behind her placenta, which for some could be brushed off as simply a high-risk pregnancy, but for Jamie can be deadly. When a transfusion is needed, blood banking is her safest option, given she can’t have vaccinated blood that contains elements of the Covid vaccine due to her blood disorder. (This is not political; she was told this by a few doctors during Covid-19.) Unfortunately, there is no way to ensure she doesn’t have unvaccinated blood when she would receive a transfusion. So, her storing her own blood, or someone close to her, that did not receive the Covid vaccine, is the only option should we be in a high-risk scenario. Insurance does not cover this, and anything helps. $1, $2, pocket change from the car. We’re very grateful for the help and are thankful for anyone who would graciously give as they feel led to. Anyone who knows her, knows she doesn’t ever ask for anything unless it is for the wellbeing of her children. I love Jamie so much and want to do everything I can to make sure we have many more years together! She’s an amazing friend, wife, and mother who gives 110% to everyone in her life, and I am so thankful for anyone who would bless us with any generosity.
