Many people have asked how they can help, and I would be wrong if I said I didn’t need the assistance. After a heartbreaking few days, my best friend of over seven years — my dog-son, Finley — has been diagnosed with a trigeminal nerve sheath tumor by the amazing veterinary team we trust deeply. Finley has been with me through the darkest and most uncertain moments of my life, teaching me more about unconditional love and trust than any person or experience ever has.
I've decided on a care plan that begins with treatment to see if he responds, and if he doesn’t, I will transition to palliative care. I am doing everything I can within my financial ability to cover his treatment and keep him as comfortable as possible. However, that leaves very little available for his eventual end-of-life care. Ultimately, I want to ensure Finley’s remaining time with us and passing — whenever it comes — is peaceful, dignified, and that I can be with him every step of the way.
Please let me be absolutely clear: I am not looking for advice regarding treatment or decisions about his condition. As his sole caregiver and parent for his entire life, and with the guidance of our trusted vet practice, family, and friends, I am confident in and committed to the decisions I’ve made for him. Consistency and confidence in his care are the most important things I can give him right now.
Everyone who has ever met Finley adores him — even if I’m not always their favorite person — and the love he has received throughout his life has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. He has a way of making people fall for him instantly.
What your support would go toward:
– Heated blankets and comfort items
– Wet food and groceries for meal-prepping foods he can more easily eat
– Hydration and nourishment support, since he’s struggling to eat and drink
– Little comforts that brighten his days, like plushies and soft bedding
– And, when the time comes, end-of-life care — ideally with an at-home service — and cremation
Thank you, truly, for every kind word, message, prayer, and gesture. I will continue to share updates, photos, and videos of how the boy is doing. It takes a village — and since Finley’s diagnosis, I’ve learned just how big his village really is.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me give Finley the comfort, dignity, and love he deserves.
