I’m reaching out to share some difficult news and to ask for your support. As some of you may already know, my fiancé, Dawson Svoboda Matarese, has been diagnosed with testicular cancer. Instead of focusing on our wedding plans, we are now fully dedicated to navigating the challenges of his treatment and figuring out how we will cover the costs.
Dawson just had his radical inguinal orchiectomy as I am writing this, December 19th to remove a large tumor. While this surgery is a critical step, doctors have also advised that chemotherapy will be necessary to make sure all cancer cells are eliminated, as testicular cancer is one of the fastest-growing types. Along with this, we were advised to consult with a fertility specialist, as the chemotherapy will leave Dawson potentially sterile. Without the ability to freeze sperm, we won’t be able to have children of our own in the future.
Unfortunately, the cost of freezing sperm is not covered by his insurance as it is considered "an elective", and with everything else we are facing, we simply can’t afford it. Right now, we are struggling to figure out how we will pay for his surgery, chemotherapy, doctor visits, and medications and Fertility preservation.
We are asking for help to ensure that we have the opportunity to start a family one day when we’re ready, and to make sure Dawson gets the treatment he needs. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean so much to us during this difficult time. Your support will go directly toward helping with the surgery, chemotherapy, fertility preservation, and the medical expenses that come with this journey.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and generosity.
