Our mom has had MS for 30 years, which has slowly debilitated her memory and mobility, but in the last year, it has completely removed her ability to complete daily functions. She now has Alzheimer’s and requires full-time professional care, which our dad has been doing on his own for years.

On December 15, our dad was admitted to the hospital with a stroke. He’s been discharged and is home now, but he needs time to recover, and his doctor has told him he cannot resume his caretaking duties. We are having difficulty getting our mom into a long-term hospice situation, and they don’t qualify for governmental assistance at this time.

We have pooled enough money together for her to stay at a local assisted living facility until December 26, but after that, we don’t have the funds for a more long-term solution. We fear that if she goes home, our dad’s health will decline.

Our hope is that with help, we can find a longer-term situation for our mom, where she will get the care she needs, and our dad can have the time to rehabilitate at home.
