Hello, my name is Kristina, Bryce’s mom. As many of you know, he gave us quite a scare Saturday morning. My oldest, Jayce, woke up at 8:00 am and found his brother seizing. He immediately came and woke me up, and I called 911. We went to the ER. His fever was at 100.8 when the ambulance came and gave him medication to stop the seizure.

Once we got home from the hospital, his neurologist team at Hopkins called me, and we spoke about the incident in detail. He is not convinced this seizure came from the 100.8 fever and wants to run more tests since he does have Neurofibromatosis type 1. His pediatrician, who we saw today (12/30/25), is also on the same page as his neurologist. So, we are currently scheduled for a brain MRI under sedation and an EEG at Hopkins in the coming weeks. He recommended we get the Sami sleep monitoring device. His neurologist told me that insurance doesn’t cover this type of device since it’s a “sleep movement monitoring device” and not a “regulated medical device.” The device and everything we need is roughly $1375.00, not including shipping. I have included a picture.

We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of the device since this is an unexpected turn of medical events in Bryce’s life. I am currently sleeping every night beside him and hardly sleeping because I am scared to death that he will have another seizure in the middle of the night.

This device will monitor him while he’s asleep, will record him, and will alert me and Jimmy automatically when he starts jerking in his sleep during a seizure. We can also send the recording to his neurologist team for more tests.
