Ensure Adequate funding for UK Psychiatric Hospitals

Hi, my name is Keira, me and my friend Issy are fundraising to start a charity in order to raise awareness of the lack of funding that the NHS receives inside psychiatric hospitals.

Hi, my name is Keira I’m a 17, and on the 12th of February 2025 I was admitted to a CAMHS psychiatric hospital under a section 2 of the mental health act. The under funding the NHS give towards psychiatric treatments is a huge struggle, leaving a lot of patients not being able to get the full treatment and support they need. 

Hi, my name is Issy and over the past 3 years I have been admitted to a psychiatric hospital a number of times under a section 2 and 3 of the mental health act. The majority of my stays at psychiatric hospitals were un- therapeutic due to lack of funds leaving me and many other patients unoccupied in the wards. 

We feel that is it important to share our experiences about UK psychiatric hospitals to help raise awareness of the underfunding that goes on in psychiatric hospitals and how they can sometimes mistreat venerable patients. There are also so many other vulnerable people who have had similar experiences and are not able to speak up about what actually happens inside psychiatric hospitals. And we also feel that it is important that they feel they have a voice too.

The funds that come out of this fundraiser will help me and Issy to begin our charity which will help end the lack of treatment and support people receive in inpatient treatment, it will also go towards raising awareness towards psychiatric hospitals and mental health in general .
