Ensure a Safe Future for Malcolm with Clayton Jacobs

My name is Clayton Jacobs. I am 37 years old and have been blind since birth. I have the most amazing 21-month-old son named Malcolm, who is blessed with sight. Not only have I been caring for him, but I've been working hard to teach him everything he needs to know to have a happy and successful future.

This has been challenging, not because of my vision, but because his mother, who struggles with significant mental health issues (Schizophrenia, Bipolar, and Borderline Personality Disorder, to name a few), has had DES called on her several times and refuses to accept responsibility. We are not together. My son's mother refuses to take medication for her mental health struggles and will call the police on me if I don’t answer the phone or her texts immediately when she calls. If the police do not respond the way she demands, she will make false allegations against me that threaten my well-being and that of my son's. (Posted on social media, trying to adopt him out, “get rid of him,” attempted to do a hit on me, threatened to burn down the city of Lockwood for pressing charges against her when he fell off a changing table while in her care and had to go to the ER due to a head injury, and more).

DES had provided supervised visitation for over a year; however, in court, they stated this was costing too much money. I was awarded primary custody, with her having three days out of the week custody. She refuses to do the custody exchange. I am on limited income and asking for support to attempt to raise funds to hire an attorney so that my son can be in a safe and secure living environment with me.
