Vox Femina - Ensemble Laude's New Album
Victoria’s premier women’s choir, Ensemble Laude, began 20 years ago as a choir dedicated to the performance of medieval music. We have since added a significant component of contemporary pieces from around the world with a focus on Canadian composers including many commissioned works. It has been 10 years since we produced our first CD Inspirata, and since our mandate is to both perform and record choral music, it is time to pull together the many highlights of the last 10 years and record much of the music that we have commissioned on our new album Vox Femina.
Ensemble Laude has excitedly completed the process of recording the all the music for the CD. We are currently in the process of mastering the tracks before distribution, and could use your help!
Vox Femina features music by women for women. Showcased works include Okâwîmâw Askiy (Mother Earth) by indigenous composer Sherryl Sewepagaham, and Jam! by Malay-Canadian Tracy Wong as well as music by conductor Elizabeth MacIsaac. Our commissions include Let Us Carry You by Kristia di Gregorio, Sarah Quartel’s Vancouver Island Requiem, Hummingbird by Kathleen Allen and La Belle Se Promene by Meghan Quinlan. The impressive list also includes Canadians Marie-Claire Saindon, Laura Hawley, Katerina Gimon, Stephanie Martin and Katherine Parrotta.
Your financial support for our project would mean the world to us as we seek to share our passion for choral music. Any contribution would be extremely appreciated.
Thank you for your generous support!
