Enrique Lugo’s Battle with CancerI'm creating this gofund in behalf of my niece Lisbeth Tamayo and her husband Enrique Lugo who is now part of our family.
I'm her aunt Consuelo Hernandez we live in Greenfield CA.
. All my family will help them as much as possible but I know they are loved by so many and any amount helps during this difficult journey they have ahead of them.
Enrique Lugo lives by a quote that goes “God is good all the time, all the time God is good”. Everyone that knows Enrique knows he is a kind, respectful and giving person.
Mr. Lugo is a caring son, brother, friend and as of February 23, 2021 now a proud father.
During the month of January, 2021 Enrique began to feel very ill. He started with a cough which everyone believed was covid. He went to get tested for Covid, and his test came back negative. Enrique tried to treat his illness at home with home remedies. His symptoms started off with a severe cough and lumps in his neck, which he thought were due to stress. Working long hours and the baby's due date approaching (March 24, 2021). Enrique began to have severe daily night sweats and coughs that would not go away. Enrique soon began to feel a lot of fatigue throughout his body that simply would not let him rest or get good night's rest. He believed it was just stress. Entering February symptoms got much stronger and Enrique began to get nervous when he would wake up in the middle of the night with his blanket covered in sweat and body hurting as if he had a severe cold. Enrique finally gave in to his wife's advice of seeking medical attention. Sunday morning on February 14, 2021 Enrique woke up with severe needle chest pain front and back of lungs. It was very hard for him to breathe. He told his wife to take him to the Emergency room immediately. Upon arrival the doctors believed it was Covid and once again tested Enrique for covid which came back negative. The doctors believed he might have some sort of bacterial diseases that entered his lungs and were not allowing him to breathe properly. After getting lab work done and X-ray came back normal they sent Enrique home and told him to follow up with his regular doctor. On February 16, 2021 early morning Enrique once again woke up with so much pain and night sweats he rushed to the emergency room with his wife at 6:00am. At this point Enrique was extremely frightened that this could be something very severe.
On February 16, 2021 Enriques life was turned upside down when the CT/scan revealed he had tumors all across his chest up his neck along his pelves and in the abdominal area. Doctors believed this was the reason for all the symptoms and immediately believed and informed Enrique he may be dealing with some type of cancer. Enrique's wife was 35 week pregnant at the time and Enrique did not want to inform his wife of the heart breaking news to her because of the pregnancy. Even though he did not want to, he told her about the heartbreaking news. She was strong and stayed positive. Enrique began to go to many doctors appointments. A week after the ugly news Enrique's wife stated the baby was not moving in her stomach as normal and wanted to get a check up with the doctor. Upon arrival the doctors noticed that she was contracting but Enriques wife did not notice she was. They began to monitor his wife and noticed she was going into preterm labor. Even though it was an amazing feeling that their baby was being born it was also very hard because of the heartbreaking news earlier that week. On February 23, 2021 Enrique and his wife had a beautiful baby girl that had to stay in the NICU because she was a late preterm baby. The week after Enrique’s daughter was born he began to get surgical procedures and examinations done. He received multiple neck and bone marrow biopsies and many labs done. It has been very hard for Enrique to hold his baby even spend time with her because of the severe pain he was constantly in.
After so many procedures done, on March 16th, 2021 the doctors finally revealed to Enrique and his family he indeed has cancer and wanted to begin chemotherapy as soon as possible because of how advanced it is. During times like this we all know financial hardships may occur. Since Enrique’s condition is an “out of network” condition. The insurance authorizations are being delayed and making it hard for Enrique to receive treatment or even medication. We all know bills continue to pill up during times like this. Both Enrique and wife are not receiving their regular income due to postpartum disability (wife) and Enrique for his chemotherapy. Disability applications are being delayed severely due to the pandemic. funds will be used for all their Bills, gas ,food,rent ect during this tough journey they have ahead of them .
