Enock's fund for Hope Performance Tennis
Tax deductible
Hi friends, join me in making a difference by supporting a good cause! I'm raising money for Hope Performance Tennis and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me. Tennis can be more that recreation, it can transform lives.
It did just that for our very own Head Professional, Enock Godi. Not too long ago, Enock was homeless in Ghana. From age 11 to 16 he slept at a gas station without knowing where his next meal might come from. Tennis, or more aptly, hitting tennis balls against a wall, was his refuge. He would hit balls against the wall for hours, dreaming of a future in tennis. Even today Enock can be found hitting a ball against the wall in between clinics. It was all that "wall hitting", and hard work to "self learn" the game of Tennis that made Enock's unlikely dream come true.
Enock has a new dream. He visited Ghana last year and was shaken by what he witnessed. With no opportunity to compete with others, attend clinics or participate in tournaments he saw the boys and girls relegated to endless hours of “hitting the ball against the wall.” He resolved to give back by creating the Hope Tennis Clinic.
Most of Enock's fellow athletes did not have the success he did due to the lack of mentoring, coaching and opportunities for competitive play in Ghana. Additionally, he knows that if these young athletes lose interest in tennis there is a good chance that they will choose the wrong path for their lives.
The Hope Tennis Clinic is an annual eleven team tournament and clinic for Accra’s emerging talented young tennis players. These ninety-nine kids have the potential to become great professional tennis players on the national circuit but live in a country that does not support tennis athletes. The Hope Tennis Clinic will be two days of clinics focusing on tennis skills giving each player the opportunity to be evaluated and mentored like never before. The three-day team tournament to follow will bring all these talented kids together to experience the thrill of the competitive side of tennis. Enock's dream is to use tennis to help the youth from his country remain positive about their future, and to better themselves.
The Tennis staff at AAC wholeheartedly support Enock in these efforts. As part of our commitment, we are holding a fundraiser for the children of Ghana. We have already received tremendous response from our members, with many items being donated. These have been shipped to Accra Sports Stadium in Ghana.
The fundraiser is an effort to assist with the financial costs associated with the Hope Tennis Clinic. Money raised will help pay for tennis balls, uniforms, tournament facility and costs incurred by coaches participating.
In addition to this donation site, all proceeds
This fall, Enock will travel to Ghana to implement the Hope Tennis Clinic. Your donation will help bring joy to the kids and offer them hope.
Enock is very thankful and this is his way of showing his gratitude for all that tennis has done for him, including helping him come to the USA. Please consider supporting Enock in this effort to give kids in Ghana the gift of hope through the game he loves.
