This year, we are organising The Coleman Electronics Swim on 21st June 2025 to help raise funds for The UCD Foundation, with funds going directly towards Pancreatic Cancer Research. Any donation, no matter how small will go a long way to help the wonderful research carried out by the UCD Foundation.
Pancreatic cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in Ireland. By studying Pancreatic Cancer and learning about every patient they can find ways to help better understand this cancer and to diagnose it at an earlier stage. Through the research completed by the UCD Foundation they hope to collect samples and information from every patient to understand who might benefit most from different treatments.
Although the number of treatments available are limited they are learning more and more about this cancer and the different types. The make-up of every pancreas cancer is different and this could lead to other treatment options and participation on clinical trials. In Ireland, the option to look at the cancer for different targets is not available. Professor Grainnie O’Kane, the Pat Smullen Chair in Pancreatic Cancer, is planning to establish a research programme at St. Vincent’s University Hospital and UCD to deliver this.
Thank you in advance for your contribution towards Pancreatic Cancer Research with UCD Foundation.
