Like any normal day my mom went to work, coming home she didn’t feel good, she thought something happened so she went to go lay down. At around 8:00pm she started to feel really cold and she was covered with many blankets, later, she started to throw up and my dad was just coming home from work while my little brother called him telling him how my mom wasn’t feeling good. So later on my dad called my tia (my moms sister) and told her that they needed to go to the hospital. My mom told all of us to not worry that it will pass soon but it never did. My tia ended up taking my mom to Cox North at around 9:30pm, the doctors did all kinds of tests on her and at 4:00am on May 8th the doctor told us that my mom has Colon Cancer. My tia told them how it can’t be possible, that no one in their family has cancer and from there on they transferred her in an ambulance to Cox South. They later told her that in two days on May 10th she needed to have a Hysterectomy and partial removal of the colon. During the surgery they found that the cancer spread to her intestines. One month later she started chemotherapy for six months. Three months later the doctors found out my mom has rectal cancer as well and had to start another chemotherapy and radiation for another three months. Another three months go by and the doctors found another cancer in her liver and she had to take two different kinds of chemo for 7 months. And now her Oncologist told us she needs to have another surgery on March 9th where they are going to remove half of her liver where the cancer is at. My mom is very strong, and is a hard worker for all of her kids and her family and loves life even after everything she has been through, my dad is also such a hard worker to give all of us everything we need and my mom helps as much as she can with her couponing and raffles so she can help my dad a little bit with money. And we would like to give a big thank you to the community and everyone who has helped us along this journey.
