English Certification for Rota (TOEFL)

I have recently been to Madagascar for my Master's Project where I interviewed Malagasy communities about rice culture. To do so, the research organisation assigned me an interpreter to translate conversations between me and the Malagasy rice farmers.

This is how I met Rota. She is a student at the University of Antananarivo (Madagascar) and she was my official interpreter during my 6 weeks spent in Madagascar.

She speaks very good English and she just applied for a Master's Programme in the USA, in California. She is now one of the 10 finalists to get the scholarship but she needs to do an English Test (TOEFL) to prove her English level. The University covered the expenses but because there was a power cut (which sadly is a frequent problem in Madagascar) she was unable to take the online test and now she has to re-do the test and she has to cover the expenses herself.

However, the test is expensive and she is unable to cover the expenses. I therefore had the idea to ask here, to my friends to help me out. I have 1000+ friends on Instagram and Facebook, if each of you donated 0.50 cents, it would be more than enough to cover the expenses for the test. I am sure we can do this and we can help Rota out.

Recentemente sono stata in Madagascar per il mio progetto di Master in cui ho intervistato le comunità malgasce sulla cultura del riso. Per fare ciò, l’organizzazione di ricerca mi ha assegnato un interprete per tradurre le conversazioni tra me e i coltivatori di riso.

È così che ho conosciuto Rota. Lei è una studentessa dell'Università di Antananarivo (Madagascar) ed è stata la mia interprete ufficiale durante le mie 6 settimane trascorse in Madagascar.

Parla molto bene l'inglese e ha appena fatto domanda per un Master negli USA, in California. Ora è una delle 10 finaliste a ottenere la borsa di studio, ma deve sostenere un test di inglese (TOEFL) per dimostrare il suo livello di inglese. L'Università ha coperto le spese ma a causa di un'interruzione di corrente (che purtroppo è un problema frequente in Madagascar) non ha potuto sostenere il test online e ora deve rifarlo e deve coprire le spese da sola.

Tuttavia, il test è molto costoso e lei non è in grado di coprire le spese. Mi è venuta quindi l'idea di chiedere qui, ai miei amici, di aiutarmi. Ho più di 1000 amici su Instagram e Facebook, se ognuno di voi donasse anche solo 50 centesimi sarebbe piu che abbastanza per coprire le spese del test. Sono sicuro che possiamo farcela e possiamo aiutare Rota.
