Animas High School prepares all students for college and postsecondary success by creating critical thinkers and engaged citizens through an innovative, student-centered, project-based curriculum.
2020 was a tough year for everyone especially our young adults struggling their way through a pandemic and high school. They were robbed of the education they were hoping for and the experiences that come with attending school everyday. We'll be back full-time in the fall of 2021 ready to take our education to the next level and I know students are starving for project work, connection with peers and teachers, and a sense of normalcy in the their life. They're also hungry for academic rigor and pushing the limits of what they can think of and dream of and this engineering course will satisfy that criteria.
In my engineering course, students will work together to design and build a one of a kind converted school bus learning everything there is to know about CAD work and design concepts moving into the hands-on experience of stripping down and rebuilding a school bus. We're going to do it all from figuring out what it will look like on a computer screen, to building out the bus including framing, cabinetry, and carpentry to electricity, plumbing, and insulation. Talk about a way to engage students!!!! This will be one of the most sought after courses at school :) It will push boundaries in team work and critical thinking as well as introduce all students to new concepts of construction, electrical engineering, and design.
I'm asking you to dig deep and help contribute to a class and project that will change lives and add so much texture to my student's educational experience. Let's work together and contribute to a new school year and course of study that brings students back to school fully engaged and excited for a change in society. Our students and families have been through a challenge like we've never seen and it's time to get students back in class excited, engaged, and challenged.
At the end of the project, we will sell off the school bus and use the money to fund the next engineering course. This is a school-based project so we can offer tax receipts for you.
