Engine for veteran boat Bjørgvin built 1943.

Good People

My father died in 1992. He was the proud owner of the beautilfull old challup Bjørgvin, since 1963. My father was a seamann, sailing most off his life, but in the end of the fifthies he went offshore and worked on B&W ship yard. But of course, he missed to sail with, at least something. So he bought Bjørgvin. And so did my mother, my father and I sail around since i was ten years old. Mostley did my father and I sail. I remember the first engine he installet, but it had to be fixed, and did never come back to the boat. We didn´t have much money, so we could not afford to bye modern newer engines. Så my Father had to settle with older car engine that he then equipped with marine cooling and gear. Mercedes om615. But...sadly enough, they couldnt cope, (even Mercedes is a strong engine.). And as such we have had FIVE Mercedes engines installet since 1965 to now 2023.

When my Father died back in 1992, I knew that I had to keep the boat, and with the best of my abbillity, keep it sailing. Fortunally im quite good with engines, and I got to be wery good friends with a older boat builder Mik Voss. He have done really great work on Bjørgvin, for almost only material price.)

In 2016 I by my self and some help, installed number five Mercedes, and it has worked great...undtil this summer. Suddently cooling water was running out from underneath the block and gear box. Mercedes is out, and still I as a pensionist (and poor mucisian) can´t afford a brand new engine. But...I have now the posibillity for getting a´second hand Yanmar 75 hp turbo engine for the price of 20.000 dkr. (3000 dollars.) It´s Nexø boatbuilder yard who is selling a few different engines, removed from inactive fisher vessels. And the good thing is that i know the mechanic who´s selling it. He have fixed it so it should be totally up to service. That engine will fit very well for Bjørgvin. I have succeed to provide some monney, but I need help to the rest. Fortunally my mechanic friend from Nexø Boatbuilder yard, is willing to deliver the Yanmar, when it is ready, and then wait for the rest of the money.

So dear people: to get Bjørgvin out on the sea again, I need help.
