Hi everyone, my name is Joshua; I’m a 22-year-old small business owner based in Ontario, and I rely on my vehicle as my only form of transportation to run my business and handle my day-to-day responsibilities; recently, my car suffered a catastrophic engine failure due to a rod bearing issue, which is a known defect affecting certain Hyundai engines from this model year; this wasn’t something caused by neglect or misuse, it was a mechanical failure tied directly to a manufacturing defect that ultimately destroyed the engine.
I reached out to Hyundai hoping they would stand behind the issue, but unfortunately they’ve refused to offer any support; their reasoning is that I’m just outside of the extended warranty period, even though the failure itself is directly related to a known defect; despite the circumstances, they’ve declined any goodwill assistance, leaving me fully responsible for the cost.
At this point, I’m facing at least $4,500 in repair costs between parts and labour just to get the vehicle running again; as someone who is fully self-sufficient and already managing my own bills and expenses, this is not something I can realistically afford on short notice, especially with my ability to work being directly impacted without reliable transportation.
I don’t normally ask for help, and this isn’t something I take lightly, but right now I’m in a position where I genuinely need support to get back on my feet; any contribution, no matter the amount, would go directly toward repairing the engine and getting me mobile again so I can continue working and supporting myself; even if you’re not in a position to donate, sharing this would mean a lot and would help me reach others who might be able to help.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can offer, it truly means more than I can put into words.
