ENFIELD FOOD PANTRY EXPANSION

Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit the First Baptist Church of Enfield Center's Food Pantry, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

THE ENFIELD FOOD DISTRIBUTION BELIEVES IN THE POWER OF FOOD.

We are broadening our focus. We continue to be an emergency food source but we are moving from a charity model to one of empowerment and food security. Our vision includes nutrition education to build healthy bodies. including provision of a space, gardening skills and tools for community gardens and a kitchen to teach food preparation and provision of hot meals. Meeting people where they are at is our aim.

We strive to avoid the signs, symbols, and procedures that contribute to the stigma often experienced by people attending food programs in charitable organizations, and to positively communicate our respect for all participants through respectful procedures. We invite community involvement. We believe that people are healthiest and happiest when they are making their own choices, meeting their own needs, and contributing to their communities.

We have established an Expansion Fund in order to plan and build a facility to achieve this mission. More information about the First Baptist Church of Enfield Center: The Enfield Food Distribution has served the needy in our community for over 40 years. We are a member pantry of the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Enfield has the highest poverty rate in our county. The need for food has increased dramatically, more than doubling, as a result of the COVID-19's economic impact. We are serving 400 families a week.

We need to be better prepared today and in the future to meet the need in our community when crisis hits. We need your help to increase our capacity. We are establishing an Expansion Fund in order to plan and build a bigger and better distribution facility in the next 1-1 1/2 years. We have already outgrown our current site, and there are additional badly needed goods and services which we could provide in a bigger space. We are setting a target of $50K in community donations for this first stage of fundraising. This show of community support will help us leverage additional grant funds from many sources, which we will need to achieve our goal.
