End-Stage Renal Disease Medical Bills&Transplant
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Marissa Aldrich and I was recently diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) in March 2022. I was in the hospital in Denver, Colorado for 7 days. I initially went in because I was unable to eat or drink without throwing up. After several days I felt like I was starving myself but no matter what I did I could not hold down anything and I became very fatigue. I could feel my body shutting down slowly and I wasn't sure what to do. I forced myself to go to work even though I knew something was wrong. I didn't want to think something this serious was happening. I ended up in the ER on March 23, 2022. If you know me, you know I hate the hospital. My worst fear was coming true when the doctor came to tell me "your kidneys are struggling". I had no words. I wasn't sure what it meant. I knew they were going to admit me. At the time, I thought all I needed were some fluids and I'd be all better. But it was much more serious than that. After checking my blood work, they realized my kidneys were not functioning on a normal scale. I had to have 2 IVs (one in each arm) pumping different fluids that my body was lacking. I had 2 blood transfusions because I had anemia. I had 4 dialysis treatments (every other day) and I will continue to have dialysis treatments 3 times a week until I can get a match for a transplant. I have been officially determined disabled due to a chronic condition, forcing me to stop working for the time being. I had a kidney biopsy to determine what my official diagnosis is but my kidneys are so damaged that they could not get a clear reading. I am going to do genetic testing to further determine my diagnosis. As of right now the doctors have hinted at it possibly being Alport Syndrome.
I am ao thankful for all the support I have received these last few months. I am forever thankful for any support provided. Your donations will help my current and future medical finance. Anything helps during this difficult and uncertain time. If you can not donate at this time I would appreciate if you could share the link on your social medias. Thank you for any and all support.
Love,
Marissa
