Let’s end rough sleeping in London

Update: This year's 2018 campaign is available here  https://www.gofundme.com/endroughsleeping

Donate today, help make sure no-one needs to sleep rough in London.

We’ve all seen people sleeping rough near where we live and work. During the past year, around 8,000 people were seen sleeping out on London’s streets

Rough sleeping is dangerous and devastating:

- the average age of death for a man who dies homeless is just 47 years old. For a woman, it is 43;

- people sleeping on the street are around 17 times more likely than the general public to be victims of violence;

- people living on the streets are over nine times more likely to take their own life.

Welfare changes, soaring housing costs, and a shortage of affordable accommodation mean that more and more people are left with nowhere they can call home. Rough sleeping has more than doubled in London since 2010.

Homelessness charities are working with the Mayor of London and local councils to provide services to help rough sleepers off the street.

But there is something every Londoner can do to help too. You can donate to our new London Homeless Charities Group so that we can offer more support to help people leave the streets and rebuild their lives.

To support the Mayor’s focus on helping rough sleepers, 18 charities with decades of combined experience in tackling homelessness have come together, for the first time, forming a unique group to provide a single point for donations. By giving your money to this coalition of charities, you can be confident your donation will be distributed fairly and provide real help for rough sleepers.

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “We’ve already started to make progress in helping rough sleepers in London, but we must continue to take action because one person sleeping rough is always one too many.

I know there are millions of Londoners who want to do something to help rough sleepers get off the streets for good. That’s why I am pleased to be joining forces with our new coalition of charities dedicated to this cause, offering a single donation point for Londoners who want to give money to those who need help the most. I urge Londoners to donate and join me in helping people sleeping on our streets to connect with vital services.”

We know rough sleeping can be ended, but in the meantime, here’s the difference your donation could make:

£10 could provide some decent clothes for a person coming in off the streets

£25 could provide some of the things needed to set up home, like pots, pans and bed linen

£50 could help someone gain the skills or qualifications they need to sustain a life away from the streets

The London Homeless Charities Group comprises:

Donations will go directly and equally to the 18 charities to fund their vital services for people in London who are sleeping rough or are at risk of doing so.

We are fortunate to have the support of GoFundMe who have donated £10,000 towards the campaign, waived all of their fees and have been incredibly supportive throughout the planning and launch stages of this campaign. 100% of your donation will go directly to the cause.
