Running Through the Night for Endometriosis ️

My name is Abi, and I have been living with the symptoms of endometriosis since I was just 13 years old. For years I was told that the pain was “normal” or simply something I had to put up with. It wasn’t until I was 20 years old that I finally received a diagnosis after years of suffering, unanswered questions, and feeling unheard.

Since then, I have undergone two laparoscopic surgeries in the hope of finding relief and improving my quality of life. Like so many others living with endometriosis, the journey has been physically and emotionally exhausting, affecting my health, work, relationships, and everyday life.

That is why I am organising a Midnight Run at The Helix in Falkirk on Friday 4th September at 12am — to raise awareness, support others going through the same battle, and help shine a light on a condition that affects so many yet is still so misunderstood.

What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows outside of the uterus. This tissue can be found on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, bowel, and other organs in the pelvis.

Each month this tissue reacts to hormones just like the lining of the womb, causing inflammation, scarring, and sometimes organs sticking together. This can lead to symptoms such as:

Severe pelvic pain
Painful periods that interfere with daily life
Pain during or after sex
Fatigue and exhaustion
Bloating (“endo belly”)
Fertility problems
Pain when going to the toilet or passing urine

Endometriosis affects around 1 in 10 women and those assigned female at birth, yet it can take many years to receive a diagnosis.

By supporting this fundraiser, you’re helping raise awareness for those who are still fighting to be believed, still waiting for answers, and still living with pain every single day.

Every step we take together is a step towards better awareness, earlier diagnosis, improved treatments, and a future where nobody has to suffer in silence.

Thank you for your support. ️

Together, we can make a difference.
Together, we run for a future without pain. ‍♀️
