Endometriosis Surgery Support

Endometriosis! Characterized as a disease/disorder where abnormal tissue grows outside the uterus. In rare cases it can grow in other soft tissure areas. When a woman with endometriosis has her period, she has bleeding from both the cells and tissue inside the uterus, and also from the cells and tissue outside the uterus. When blood touches these other organs inside the abdomen, it can cause inflammation and irritation, creating pain. Scar tissue can also develop from the endometriosis and contribute to the pain.

I guess it's time to share my story.

For a long time, I've hid the severity of my pain from almost everyone.

For 20 years now, I've suffered from severe menstrual cramps. I thought it was normal. Doctors will tell you it's normal. I don't believe that's true, but it's been my normal.

It's scary! When you spend most of your time alone, as I do, a bad episode

can be traumatizing.

As I type this, I think back to the countless times I've needed help from friends, coworkers or classmates.

At school, a teacher had to pick me up from the floor. Classmates drove me home because I wasn't able to drive myself. Coworkers will step in and do things for me because I can't bend over or walk very fast.

They've walked me to treatment rooms to help me lay down until I feel well enough to drive.

They have seen the worst of it, and it's embarrassing to be so weak publicly, but there is nothing I can do in that condition except let whatever is happening happen. It even wakes me up at night. Friends have listened to me scream on the phone when the pain hits. I'm so thankful for the people in my life that have seen it and been there for me.

As most people know, I am a massage therapist. I'm a healer; that's my gift. I've helped thousands of people in my career. However, it's nearly impossible to perform while I'm hurting. What gets to me the most is I've given many massages in tears but most clients will never know. A few have seen and refuse to have me do the massage or finish it becuase they clearly see I physically can't do it.

Doesn't stop this beast from trying though.

This is my livlihood and like everyone else I need to work so I go and hope for the best that day. Sometimes I make it other days I can not. Do I take medicine? Oh absolutely! Does it always work? Unfortunately no.

I was told I may get better once I hit 30. I've gotten worse. So sick where I feel symptoms I won't even type here. Its not just bad cramping there's vomiting and headaches and backaches. Worst cases are all the joints in my body hurt. If everything hits at one time I just... yeah.
